The caster clears a space and begins sketching the outline of a horse on the ground with chalk, charcoal, or simply a pointed finger trailing wisps of vapor. As the outline takes shape, the caster pours their imagination into it — the perfect mount, shaped by their desires. Mist or smoke begins to fill the outline, thickening and solidifying from the hooves upward. The steed's muscles form like clouds condensing into rain; its mane streams like fog in a breeze. The caster must sustain absolute focus during the formation, or the steed's features waver and blur. The completed mount is beautiful and slightly translucent — its hooves make no sound, its breath produces no vapor, and it smells faintly of ozone and rain. Its eyes glow with a soft, knowing light. The mount has no personality but responds to the caster's wishes with uncanny intuition. Each caster's phantom steed is unique: a knight's might be a charger in spectral barding; a wizard's might be a lean, otherworldly thing with too-long legs.
A Large quasi-real, horselike creature appears on the ground in an unoccupied space of your choice within range. You decide the creature's appearance, but it is equipped with a saddle, bit, and bridle. Any of the equipment created by the spell vanishes in a puff of smoke if it is carried more than 10 feet away from the steed. For the duration, you or a creature you choose can ride the steed. The creature uses the statistics for a riding horse, except it has a speed of 100 feet and can travel 10 miles in an hour, or 13 miles at a fast pace. When the spell ends, the steed gradually fades, giving the rider 1 minute to dismount. The spell ends if you use an action to dismiss it or if the steed takes any damage.
