The caster stands at the center of the intended area and raises their hands, palms outward, as if pressing against invisible walls. The caster then makes a series of precise, silent gestures — each one sealing another layer of sonic dampening into the area. The air within the zone thickens almost imperceptibly, as if filled with invisible cotton. Sounds that try to enter are swallowed; sounds that try to leave are smothered. The caster can feel the boundary of the silence like a physical membrane. The ritual's completion is marked by a moment of profound, absolute quiet — so total that the caster can hear their own heartbeat and the rush of blood in their ears.
